Sometimes, you might have to change the URL a short link is pointing to. This can happen if you update your website, want to keep a static link for different promotions, or make a mistake when you shorten the link.
With a paid subscription, you can edit the link destination by entering a different target URL. There is a monthly limit of how many redirects you can edit per month.
A redirected link also counts as a new link, meaning it counts against your monthly link limit. If you hit your link limit, you won't be able to redirect any links until the start of the next month.
To edit the destination of the link:
- Log in to your Bitly account.
- Click Links in the left sidebar.
- Select the link you would like to edit.
- Click Redirect.
- Enter the new target URL and click Save.
Anyone clicking on the short link will now land on the new page you've entered.
Redirect history
When you select the link from the list of all links, you can scroll down to see its redirect history. This includes the current target URL, previous URLs, the number of clicks each link received, and the time span each target URL was active.
