When you log into your Bitly account after it's been inactive for several months, we send you an email asking you to reset your password.
We do this to prevent unauthorized access on your account: It's our way of making sure that it's actually you trying to log in. If it's someone other than you, they'll be unable to access your account. This ensures that your account and all your data remain safe — even when you haven't used Bitly in a while.
Once you reset your password, you can log in and use Bitly like normal. We also recommend that you set up 2-factor verification for added protection.
