How do I create a Campaign?

Use Campaigns to manage and measure link performance across multiple channels.

Two important things to know:

  • Each Campaign can have up to 100 links
  • Each Campaign can have up to 100 channels

You can have up to 500 Campaign channels in your account. To avoid creating duplicate channels, you can select previously-used channels when you create future Campaigns.

To create a Campaign:

  1. Log into your Bitly account.
  2. Click Campaigns in the left sidebar.

  3. Click Create campaign in the top-right corner.

  4. The create screen opens on the right side of the page. Enter a title and description for your new Campaign.

  5. Your new Campaign can use the same channels as a previous Campaign and/or new channels.
    • To use a channel you've already created, click into the Channels field and select it from the dropdown.

    • To create new channels:
      1. Click Create a channel.
        Note: In order to manage channels, you must have group admin or account admin permissions. If you do not have this, please contact your account admin to adjust your permission settings.

      2. Type the name of your new channel, then click Create.

      3. You're taken back to the Create Campaign page. Click into the Channels field again and select your new channel.

  6. Click Add Links.

  7. Paste the long URL you would like to shorten. To add multiple, upload links in bulk via a CSV file.

  8. Select the Auto-Add UTM Parameters checkbox if you would like to create individual links with UTM parameters for each selected channel. This is required to add the link to multiple channels.
    • utm_medium will always be "bitly"
    • utm_campaign will be the name of your Campaign
    • utm_source will be the channel name
  9. Select the channel(s) for this link.
  10. Click Create.

We automatically create short links for each channel you selected. Select the channel underneath the Campaign name to copy the short links for that channel.

To return to this Campaign or to view all of the Campaigns you've created, select Campaigns in the left sidebar. From here, you can:
