Quick Answer: Bitly’s Weekly Insights is an automatic weekly performance summary inside your Analytics overview. It surfaces what's working, what's changing, and what to do next in plain language.
How do I find my Insights?
- Log in to your Bitly account.
- Click Analytics in the left sidebar.
- Scroll down to the Insights section.
The date range for the current week is displayed at the top right of the Insights section so you always know exactly what time period is being summarized.
What does Insights show me?
Each week, Insights surfaces up to three findings from your data. Insights only appear when something notable changes — if your performance is consistent week over week, you may not see any insights for that week, and that's by design.
Each insight card includes:
- A headline summarizing the notable change (for example, "Traffic from Facebook is up 25% this week.")
- Recommendation — one actionable suggestion based on the pattern (for example, "Whatever you changed recently on this channel is working. Do more of it before the momentum fades.")
- Analyze with AI — suggested prompts you can send directly to Bitly Assist to dig deeper into the insights.
- Thumbs up / thumbs down — a quick way to rate whether the insight was helpful
Insights are drawn from up to five categories: referrer/channel, top link, location, device, and day of week. You'll see a maximum of three insights per week, each from a different category.
What is the Performance overview?
Below your Insights cards, the Performance overview section shows a graph of your Total Engagements for the week with a week-over-week comparison. You'll see the total engagement count, the percentage change from the prior week, and the specific date ranges being compared.
The Performance overview graph is always shown, even if no Insights were surfaced for that week.
You can also click Summarize to get a plain-language summary of your Performance overview from Bitly Assist.
How do I download my Insights?
To download a PDF of your weekly Insights summary, click the download icon at the top right of the Insights section (next to the date range). The PDF includes your insight cards with their headlines, recommendations, and the Performance overview graph for the week.
Frequently asked questions
How often do Insights refresh?
Insights refresh every Monday and cover the prior Monday through Sunday. The date range is always shown at the top of the Insights section.
Why aren't any Insights showing this week?
Insights only surface when something notable changes in your data. If your performance was relatively consistent week over week, you may not see insights. You'll also need at least some engagement activity in the week for insights to generate. The Performance overview graph will always appear, even when there are no insights.
Will I see the same Insights every week?
No. Insights uses logic that prevents the same finding from repeating. Each week, up to three insights are surfaced from different categories, and the same insight won't recur unless enough time has passed and the data warrants it.
How do Insights and Bitly Assist work together?
They're designed to complement each other. Insights tells you what changed in your performance each week. Bitly Assist lets you act on it. Each insight card includes Analyze with AI prompts — click one to send it directly to Bitly Assist and go deeper on that specific finding. You can also click Analyze with AI at the top of the Analytics page to start a conversation about your performance.
How is Insights different from an Analytics dashboard?
Analytics dashboards let you explore your data on your own terms. You build the view, filter, and interpret. Insights does the interpreting for you. Think of dashboards as your full dataset and Insights as your weekly briefing.
Which plan do I need to access Insights?
Insights is available on all paid Bitly plans. Free users can see a preview of the Insights section with an option to upgrade.
