You can view your link data by device type in two places:
The Links page shows data for individual links, while Bitly Analytics shows aggregate data for all of your links during a set date range. The date range and amount of data available depends on your subscription plan. Visit our pricing page for details.
Data for individual links
To view device-type data for a specific link:
- Log in to your Bitly account.
- Click Links in the left sidebar.
- Select your link. Use search or filters to find it, if necessary.
- Scroll down to Devices module.
Data on your Analytics dashboard
Bitly Analytics shows aggregate data for all of your links and QR Codes for a specific date range. You can create a module on an analytics dashboard to see engagement by device type.
To get to this data:
- Log in to your Bitly account.
- Click Analytics in the left sidebar.
- Select on View all to see your Analytics dashboards.
- Select your dashboard from the list or choose Create new dashboard.
- Click Add module.
- Select Device for chart type from the dropdown menu. A preview of your new module displays on the right side of the page.
- Select a visualization.
- Click Add to dashboard.
You can also create custom reports with device data.
Additional notes
Device type data doesn't include device brands, models, or other details. The possible device types are:
- Desktop
- Mobile device
- Mobile phone
- Tablet
- TV device
- Car entertainment system
- Console
- Digital camera
- E-book reader
- Unknown
Some other things to know about this data:
- Mobile device — You'll see this when the data tells us the device is mobile, but not a tablet. An iPod Touch is an example of a mobile device.
- No device data — This data cannot be identified because the clicks occurred before January 13, 2019, when Bitly started capturing device information.
- Unknown — Some device types are unknown because the device is not transmitting identifiable information.
