Bitly offers SDKs for both Android and iOS to complement and improve our mobile deep linking capabilities. It's required to create Universal Links and Android App Links, the industry-standard mobile deep linking methods.

What you need to know about the Bitly SDK
The Bitly SDK is lightweight, at around 1MB.
There are a number of benefits of using the SDK to create Universal Links and Android App Links, compared to the legacy deep linking method of Custom Scheme links:
- Automation: Configure your apps for mobile deep linking once, and each link takes your audience to the best place to view your content.
- Deferred deep linking: If someone doesn't have your app installed, your deep links can direct them to the app store; after they install it, they're automatically taken to your content.
- Improved data collection: The SDK is required to collect App Open and App Install data.
The Bitly SDK also offers support for:
- Android Instant Apps
- Shortening directly from your app
