Quick Answer: You can add tags while you create a QR Code, or add them to any QR Code already in your account. On the QR Codes page, find the QR Code and click + Add tag, then select an existing tag or type a new one and press Enter. To remove a tag, open the QR Code for editing and click the X on the tag and click Save changes.
Tags are labels you add to your QR Codes so you can group and find them more easily. Use tags to keep track of the campaign a QR Code belongs to, the physical place it's posted, the team that owns it, or anything else you'd want to look up later.
Tags are shared across your links and your QR Codes. Any tag you've already created on a link is ready to use on a QR Code, and any tag you create on a QR Code becomes available for your links too.

Add tags while creating a QR Code
You can tag a QR Code as you create it, so it's organized from the start. This helps when you're producing a batch of codes for a campaign or a set of locations and already know how you want to group them. For full steps to create QR Codes, see How do I create a QR Code in Bitly?
Add tags to an existing QR Code
You can add tags to any QR Code already in your account from the QR Codes page. To tag several QR Codes at the same time, see Add tags in bulk below.
To add tags to a QR Code:
- Log in to your Bitly account.
- Click QR Codes in the left sidebar.
- Find the QR Code you want to tag. Any existing tags are shown on the QR Code card.
- Click + Add tag.
-
Select an existing tag, or type a new one into the field and press Enter to create it. Tags are case-sensitive.
- Repeat for as many tags as you want, then click outside the tags box to save.
Add tags in bulk
You can add the same tags to several QR Codes at once from the QR Codes page.
To add tags to multiple QR Codes:
- Log in to your Bitly account.
- Click QR Codes in the left sidebar.
-
Select the checkboxes next to the QR Codes you want to tag. Click the checkbox at the top to select every QR Code on the page.
- Click Tag.
-
Select one or more existing tags, or type a new tag into the search field and then click outside the tags box to save.
Bulk tagging adds tags. It doesn't remove or replace the tags already on those QR Codes.
Delete tags
You can remove tags from any QR Code at any time. Removing a tag doesn't change your QR Code, and anyone who scans it will still reach the same destination.
To remove a tag from a QR Code:
- Log in to your Bitly account.
- Click QR Codes in the left sidebar.
- Find the QR Code you want to edit and click the edit icon (it looks like a pencil).
-
Click the X on the tag you want to remove.
- Click Save Changes when you're done.
Filter by tags
Once you've tagged your QR Codes, you can filter the QR Codes page to show only the ones with a given tag.
To filter QR Codes by tag:
- Log in to your Bitly account.
-
Click QR Codes in the left sidebar.
-
Click Add filters.
-
Select the tags you want to filter by, then click Apply.
- To clear your filters, click Clear all filters.
