2D Barcodes are QR Codes that are used much like traditional barcodes, the striped codes you see on product packaging. You can learn more about them in another article, What are 2D Barcodes?
There are two ways to make a 2D Barcode in Bitly.
A 2D Barcode consumes both one QR Code and one link from your QR Code limit and link limit, respectively. You can view your limits on the Billing & Usage section in your account settings.
To create a new 2D Barcode
-
- Log in to your Bitly account.
- We recommend creating and selecting a group specifically created for organizing and managing your 2D Barcodes.
- Click Create new in the left sidebar and select QR Code.
- Select 2D Barcode from the Code type dropdown.
- Enter a destination URL for when a consumer scans your code.
- Enter your product's GTIN (Global trade item number).
- If you have a custom domain and would like to customize the related short link, select it from the Domain list.
- While a Title for your code is optional, we recommend you add one that includes the product's GTIN. This will make the code searchable by GTIN in Bitly.
- Click Design your code at the bottom of the window.
- Customize your Bitly Code. Design options vary based on your subscription plan.
The preview on the right updates to show what your Bitly Code will look like. To save your design as a template, select Save current design in the templates section.
- Click Create your code.
- Download and share your new Bitly Code!
