Google's Campaign URL Builder is a tool for constructing a URL with campaign/UTM parameters. Adding parameters like medium, campaign, and source to a URL allows you to track traffic and campaigns in web analytics tools like Google Analytics.
Google used to have their own link shortener (goo.gl) but no longer supports it. Their Campaign URL Builder includes a feature to shorten your links through Bitly.
You can also add UTM parameters while shortening links within the Bitly app. And if you have a lot of links to shorten, consider using our campaign feature.
To use Bitly with Google's Campaign URL Builder:
- Go to the Campaign URL Builder.
- Enter your URL and parameters.
- Click Shorten link.
-
Click Allow on the authorization page. If you're not signed in to Bitly, you'll be prompted to log in first.
- Your short link is displayed in the Shortened URL field. Click the copy icon on the right side of this box to copy the link.
These links are created in your default app group (used as the default for all integrations) and use the default domain for that group. You can always find the link (and all of its analytics) in your Bitly account.
