Our new Apps and Integrations Marketplace is live! Check out the IFTTT page on the Marketplace for more information about this integration.
What is IFTTT?
IFTTT is a platform for building connections between apps or devices so they can work together automatically. These connections are called Applets. When you build an Applet, you set up triggers and actions between the apps you work with, so when something happens in app A, app B responds by doing something else — in other words, "If this, then that" or IFTTT.
You can use pre-built Applets shared by other people or you can build your own. Save yourself time and keep things up-to-date by automating actions and sharing data across the products you use, you can .
Why should I enable this integration?
Any Applets that involve sharing a link shorten it with the IFTTT domain by default (for example, https://ift.tt/my_link). Connect your Bitly account to IFTTT to use your custom domain for your links and to record the clicks in your Bitly account.
Who can set this up?
Anyone with a Bitly account and an IFTTT account. You also need accounts with any of the apps you want to connect to.
How do I connect IFTTT to Bitly?
These steps guide you through using your Bitly account to generate short links instead of using IFTTT's default domain.
For building Applets that connect Bitly to other apps or devices, head over to IFTTT's comprehensive help site.
- Sign in to your IFTTT account.
- Click the profile menu in the top-right corner and select Account.
- Scroll down to URL shortening and click Link your bit.ly account.
-
Click Allow on the authorization page. If you're not signed in to Bitly, you'll be prompted to log in first.
And that's it. Now when you use an Applet that generates links, they are shortened through your Bitly account. These links are created in your default app group (used as the default for all integrations) and use the default domain for that group.
