What is the Bitly Shopify integration?
Bitly's Shopify integration is a native app that enables you to create branded short links and QR Codes for your products directly within Shopify. Unlike typical link shortening tools, it tracks when clicks convert to purchases, displaying engagement metrics alongside sales data—orders, revenue, and conversion rates—in both Bitly and Shopify platforms.

How to install the Bitly Shopify app
Step 1: Install App
- Click Install from the Bitly Shopify app store listing.
- Sign into your Shopify account, if not already logged in.

Click Install.
The Bitly app is now installed in your Shopify admin. You'll be redirected to complete the connection to your Bitly account.
Step 2: Connect your Bitly account
- Click Connect in the app setup screen.

Sign into your Bitly account, if not already logged in.

Click Allow to Authorize Bitly Shopify to use your account.
- Select your default account, if you have multiple accounts in Bitly.
- Click Connect Account.
Your Bitly account is now connected to Shopify. You can start creating short links for your products directly within Shopify. You may only connect your Bitly account with one Shopify account at a time.
View link data in Shopify
The integration displays Bitly link performance data directly within your Shopify admin. Navigate to the Links page on the left hand side to view link metrics.
For each product with a Bitly link, you'll see:
- Total clicks: Number of times the link was clicked.
- Orders: Number of purchases that resulted from this link.
- Revenue: Total sales generated through this link.
- Conversion rate: Percentage of clicks that turned into purchases.
From here, you can click on a link title to see the link details page. This view shows revenue and engagement data for the selected link.
View Shopify links or QR Codes in Bitly
Each link or QR Code will show the Shopify icon within the link or QR Card in your Bitly account.
Filter to view Shopify links or QR Codes that were created in Shopify.
Links:
- Click Links in the left sidebar.
- Select Add filters.
- Toggle on Only Shopify links.
- Click Apply.
QR Codes:
- Click QR Codes in the left sidebar.
- Select Add filters.
- Toggle on Only Shopify QR Codes.
- Click Apply.
Note: The Shopify badge and Shopify filter will not show up if you have the integration installed on your Bitly account. For instructions see, How to install the Bitly Shopify app.
View Shopify data in Bitly
View Shopify orders alongside click and engagement metrics inside of your Bitly account. This makes it easier to see which links and QR codes are actually driving purchases.
Select the link or QR Code you want to view. Shopify data will appear on the bottom of the selected card. Click Open in Shopify to view the link or QR Code data from Shopify.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Bitly Shopify integration require a paid Bitly plan?
Yes. The integration is available on Core, Growth, Premium, and Enterprise plans. Free plan users cannot connect Bitly to Shopify.
Can I use my custom domain with Shopify links?
Yes. If you have a custom domain set up in Bitly, you can select it as your default domain during the app setup. All links created through Shopify will use that domain.
