Connect your Bitly account to Slack
To connect Bitly and Slack:
- Go to the Slack page on the Bitly App and Integrations Marketplace.
- Click Connect Slack to Bitly.
- Select your workspace from the dropdown.
- Click Install Bitly for Slack.
- Click Allow to authorize Bitly to access your Slack workplace.
- Sign in to your Bitly account, if necessary.
- Installation was successful! Click Open in Slack.
Once connected, you can use Bitly slash commands in any Slack channel or direct message.
Shorten links in Slack
To create a short link directly in Slack:
- In any Slack channel or direct message, type /shorten followed by the URL you want to shorten.
- Press Enter.
- Select the Group and Domain you want to create the link in.
- Enter the Custom back-half (optional).
- Click Shorten.
- Your link creation summary will show in Slack.
Generate QR codes in Slack
To create a QR Code fin Slack:
- In any Slack channel or direct message, type /qr followed by the URL.
- Press Enter.
- Select the Group and Domain you want to create the QR Code in.
- Enter the Custom back-half (optional).
- Click Generate.
- Your created QR Code will show in Slack.
View link analytics in Slack
- /clicks [short link] - Get click performance for a specific link or all your links.
- /top - Get your top performing links.
- /cities [short link] - Get city data for a link.
- /countries [short link] - Get country data for a link.
- /devices [short link] - Get device data for a link.
- /referrers [short link] - Get referrer data for a link.
Each analytics command will display the data for the past 14 days directly in Slack with quick-access buttons to view more detailed information in your Bitly dashboard.
