There could be a few different reasons you get an error message when logging in.
Are you using a VPN?
A VPN issue is the likely cause of an error message saying, "Oops, too many login attempts. Please try again later." When this happens, a rate limit error is being triggered, not because you have reached your limit, but because the VPN’s IPs have a lot of usage from many Bitly users.
To resolve this, we recommend three options:
- Switch VPN IP addresses/endpoints, if possible (check your VPN's help center for instructions)
- Use a different VPN
- Turn off the VPN
Are you using the correct, primary email?
Your account's primary email address is the only email that can be used to sign in, even if you've added and verified additional email addresses. To change the primary email address, visit How to change your email address.
Are you using the correct password?
Make sure you're entering the correct password when signing in. If you need to reset your password, you can request a reset link via the Bitly login page. This link will be valid for 30 minutes, after which you'll need to request a new link.
Note: the reset link will be sent only to the primary email address on the account.
