When you subscribe or upgrade to some paid plans, you get the option to use a Bitly-provided complimentary domain instead of a custom domain you purchased on your own.
These are the top-level domains (TLDs) available for use with a complimentary domain:
.biz | .cc | .club | .co |
.com | .desi | .info | .ink |
.la | .me | .mobi | .moe |
.nagoya | .net | .org | .pub |
.ryukyu | .tv | .uno | .webcam |
.wiki | .ws |
Why just these TLDs?
- We offer domains with a value up to $30.
- We avoid offering domains used or reserved for specific countries and governments, as many of those are restricted and/or require verification of residence (e.g., for the .nyc domain, you need to provide an NYC business address as verification).
If you want a TLD other than those listed here, you can purchase one through a domain provider like GoDaddy. We have a list of common domain providers to help with this process.
Keep these things in mind as you choose and set up a custom domain:
- The domain for your short links must be different than your website domain.
- It can't be more than 32 characters long, including the dot.
- If you don't have one yet, Bitly offers a complimentary domain on some paid plans.
