Bitly has already secured SSL certificates for all branded domains through LetsEncrypt.
Please keep in mind this is only available to users who have set up a Custom Domain within their Bitly account. By turning this on in your dashboard, all new links created through the dashboard or API will return HTTPS links.
To enable your Custom Domain to support HTTPS:
- Locate your username or group in the upper right-hand corner.
- Click manage, here you should be able to click on your custom domain.
- Locate ‘HTTPS and SSL configuration’ and switch the setting to "On." Once you flip this switch, all branded links going forward will be HTTPS. Please note this will not change links previously created in your account.
Custom SSL Certificates
For customers with an Enterprise subscription and an additional service fee, Bitly can also support custom certificates.
If your company does not want to use LetsEncrypt and has its own custom SSL certificate, please email your Account Manager or firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
