By shortening a link through the Campaigns page, you can automatically generate one or more short links that include UTM source and campaign parameters corresponding to the campaign and channels you have selected. The parameters will be populated as follows:
utm_medium=bitly (this cannot be changed)
utm_source=<the channel(s) you've selected>
utm_campaign=<the name of your Bitly campaign>
For example, you can enter a link to a promotional page and select multiple channels (like Facebook and Twitter). This will generate multiple links, each with a UTM source parameter at the end of the link (utm_source=facebook, utm_source=twitter). Each link will also contain a utm_campaign parameter with the name of the campaign you're working in. The utm_medium will always be bitly.
Keep in mind that if the link you are shortening already contains UTM parameters, additional ones will be added according to your selections.
From your dashboard, select a campaign and click Add Links.
From the "Add links" section paste the long URL you want to make into links in the highlight box on the right-hand side. Here you'll see all the included channels you are creating links for. When multiple channels are selected we will auto add UTM parameters to the destination URL in order to create unique links for each channel.
When you are finished select "Create" at the bottom of the page and the links will be created for the desired channels within the campaign.
