UTM parameters aren't available as fields in the bulk link shortening template. If you have a lot of links you want to shorten in bulk and want to use UTM parameters to capture even more data about your links, you have two options:
- Add your UTM parameters to the links in your CSV file before you upload it
- Use the Campaigns feature to upload up to 100 links at a time
There are a few different things to be aware of with each option.
Manually add UTM parameters to a bulk upload
If you use the standard bulk link shortening template, the full link should be in the first column—including UTM parameters. This means you'll likely have multiple versions of the same link. For example:
- https://support.bitly.com/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=get-help
- https://support.bitly.com/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=get-help
You can use an external UTM builder to create these links or you can add them manually. Just make sure that your final CSV file matches our template. If you're using custom back-halves, each row in your spreadsheet should have a distinct back-half.
Use Campaigns to add UTM parameters in bulk
Our Campaign feature uses a different bulk upload file template. If you choose to use a Campaign to add UTM parameters to your bulk upload, be sure to use the correct template and select Auto-add UTM parameters when you upload your file.
Each Campaign has a limit of 100 links.
